The Cowgirl’s Guide to Beautiful Skin

Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning time is here!  As you open the windows, sweep out the barn and prepare for the glorious months ahead remember to give your body a spring cleaning too! Now is the perfect time to book a facial and body steam at your favorite local body-care salon. A deep pore cleansing and body buff will liberate your skin from clogged pores and flaky skin left over from winter. Think sunlight, moisture and blue skies ahead! Don your hat and get outside!

Both Cowgirl Cream® and Extreme Cream™ are great for energizing and nourishing your skin. Aloe Vera, horsetail extract, vitamins A, D and E, and essential oils like, lavender, black spruce and lime will give a little zip to tired skin. An exfoliating and energizing mask (recipe to follow) will get the circulation moving and leave your skin soft and glowing.

Spring is also the perfect time of year to cleanse your skin from the inside out. Those dandelion, parsley, spinach and alfalfa greens that are first to emerge from the ground are perfect to add to salads, soups or to make a light tea. These fresh green plants are naturally stimulating and energizing while they restore many of the vitamins we did not get from heavier winter foods. Think about taking a day or two to gently clean out with spring vegetable soup simmered with a handful of these greens. Take a day to relax, read and sit on the porch.  Make the soup early in the morning and sip all day. Go to bed early and get up with the birds the next day. You’ll feel refreshed and ready for your next trail ride.

Ideas and intentions planted now will be reaped in the fall. When you plant your spring garden, even if it’s just a few containers filled with flowers and herbs, think about what you want to bloom for yourself next fall. Try this: write on a piece of paper a dream, a desire, or an intention. Bury it deep in the ground as you bury it deep in your heart. Now, just live and you’ll see how these dreams, etc. manifest themselves next fall.
